Assemblyman Mike Eng visits merchants on Whittier Blvd.

March 23rd. 2007

Assemblyman Mike Eng, the newly elected Assemblyman in the 49th district spent several hours with local and regional merchants and business leaders of the East Los Angeles community. The Assemblyman chairs the important Business and Professions Committee at our States Capitol in Sacramento. The event was a fundraiser for the assemblyman and it gave the merchants an opportunity to educate and inform Assemblyman Eng about pending legislation that will have an adverse effect on our communities Pawn shop owners and their clientele. The event hosted by Richard Cohn of Reed's Pawnmart located on Whittier Boulevard, attracted over forty pawnbrokers, business leaders and local merchants who were graciously given the opportunity by the Assemblyman to voice their concerns. Also on hand were representatives for (CLSDA) Collateral Loan and Secondhand Dealers Association of California. Our host Richard Cohn took great care of everyone and the group enjoyed the incredible food of Tacos Mexico one of our long standing Christmas Parade Sponsors.

Assemblyman Eng took the time to go around introducing himself and shaking hands with all who attended. Mr. Eng brings a new fresh political style to our States Government and on behalf of East Los Angeles and The Whittier Boulevard Merchants Association, we pledge our support and wish Assemblyman Mike Eng the very best.
